Beach Trip with Mimi 2012

This year we took Mimi to the beach with us and here's why......  My mom reminded me that she hadn't been to the beach in 11 years and told me that she wanted to go one more time before she died. Now, keep in mind, she's only 61 and doesn't have a terminal illness, she just thinks she's as lot older than she is. Anyways, I love my mom and would never forgive myself if something happened to her and I didn't honor her "last" request.  I also have to keep my title as "favorite daughter".

There they go, Mimi's feet in the ocean. She said "wouldn't it be funny if I dropped dead after putting my feet in". No, not at all and now you've freaked my kids out by saying that!

Yes, this was staged, they would never be this sweet on their own.

Wonder what he's daydreaming about??

Kindergarten is serious business. He had tons of homework to do while we were there.

Andrew insisted on doing his own sunscreen.

This picture just makes me laugh. Not only did Carter photo bomb us but then this random kid kept riding his bike right in front of us???

An early birthday present!

Carter slammed a door on Andrew's face... see the bruise???

Last night sleeping as a 5 year old!!!!!

Birthday boy at the beach... lucky kid! I think this was like 5:30am seriously

birthday pirate mini golf!

Andrew has never liked cake or cupcakes but he LOVES steak! He told me it would be cool to have a cake made out of steak.... you know, a steak cake, so we made it happen!

The boys first time to ride Go Carts! We had a blast and I felt like a kid again myself!

Apple Valley Orchard

Andrew just had his first field trip as a kindergartner and we went to an apple orchard. It could really be a great place to take the kids, the space is great but they hurry you through, don't explain much at all and the "tour guide" is a drill sergeant. We still managed to have lots of fun and I couldn't get over how big they all looked in their school polos!

Happy Birthday McKenzie

My sweet niece turned 7 a few weeks ago so the boys and I drove to Nashville to celebrate with her at Chuck E Cheese. I've been telling Andrew for a while now that he couldn't have his party there since they stop letting you at age 5, so this really threw a snag in my story.
My friend Cortney and her son Xav rode with us and my sister invited them to the party as well!

Soccer Time!

I try to keep Andrew in a sport all year long, we usually go from baseball to basketball and karate but we decided to throw in a little soccer this year and see how he did. Little did I know, there was also a 3 yr old league that Carter could play in too! They were both super stoked to wear their soccer duds and I thought that would be the climax of the day...... but no, they loved playing and were actually pretty darn good. Andrew scored 3 goals and Carter 2!!!!  I was one of those crazy "soccer moms", screaming and clapping on the sidelines but at least I didn't hop in a minivan when we left. No offense to all of my super cool friends who drive one! I can't forget to mention that my friend Christy stacked the team so we literally know (and are friends with) every player on his team so another reason we're loving soccer!

Carter's team didn't have their jerseys yet so they were the red team

victory dance?

such a cool little guy!

Teddy Bear Picnic

Carter had a Teddy Bear Picnic in his class last week which ( thank goodness) wasn't anything like Andrew's fine chine Teddy Bear Tea Party last year. Mrs. Winn took care of everything and all I had to do was show up.... my kinda party! Carter was actually a little upset that I didn't bring my own stuffed bear for the party but he willingly shared his Go Blue Michigan one with me!

We're Going on a Bear Hunt

Carter's class had a "bear hunt" last week, and you better believe this momma was there waking pictures! They've been learning about bears, reading about them and doing crafts so why not hunt one? The boys love the book about going on a bear hunt and it was so cute how the teacher turned it into a real activity for them!
